Some Bali days run on adventure.
Others run on sunscreen, snacks, and a very optimistic outlook.
This one started with all three.
We were travelling from Kuta to Ubud and decided not to head straight to the villa. Instead, we broke the journey with a waterfall stop — because Bali, waterfalls, and kids sound like a magical combination. And with the right planning, they can be.
Our first taste of Ubud came in the form of Tegenungan Waterfall — also known as Blangsinga Waterfall — one of the most accessible, family-friendly waterfalls near Ubud.
And yes, it was beautiful.
Yes, it was hot.
And yes, Omma Dayclub ended up being the quiet hero of the day.
Tegenungan Waterfall
Big, Beautiful & Surprisingly Manageable
Located in Kemenuh Village, Gianyar, Tegenungan Waterfall sits about 20–30 minutes from Ubud, making it a popular — and practical — stop when travelling with kids.
Unlike many waterfalls in Bali that demand long jungle hikes and questionable footwear decisions, Tegenungan is relatively straightforward.
Here’s what makes it appealing for families:
- A powerful waterfall cascading into a natural pool
- Clear paths and around 165 steps down to the base
- Several lookout points and photo platforms along the way
- Facilities nearby — cafés, small shops, toilets, and changing areas
- Affordable entry (around IDR 30,000 per adult)
When we visited, the water was slightly muddy from recent rain — still dramatic, still beautiful, just very much real Bali rather than a filtered reel.
The heat, however, showed up with commitment.
The kind that drains kids faster than you can say, “Just one more photo.”
Water bottles emptied quickly. Energy dipped. Everyone felt it.

Instagram “easy walks” often translate to real-life cardio. Always check walking distance and steps before committing — especially with kids.
Enter Omma Dayclub
AKA: Divine Intervention
At the base of Tegenungan sits Omma Dayclub — and in that moment, it felt less like a venue and more like a lifeline.
We hadn’t planned to stay long.
We just needed somewhere to cool down, sit down, and regroup.
The kids spotted the seating first.
Daybeds.
Shade.
Cold drinks.
They collapsed without hesitation — limbs everywhere, expressions that clearly said: adventure complete for now.
Omma Dayclub has multiple seating areas, each with a different vibe (booking required for some areas beforehand):
- VVIP lounge
- Poolside seating
- Sunbeds and daybeds
- Side lounges and courtyards
- Bamboo seating (where we parked ourselves)
There’s also a pool, an on-site swing, and shisha available in designated smoking areas — though on this visit, we stayed firmly in recovery mode.
The Elevator That Deserves a Standing Ovation
Here’s the detail that makes Omma Dayclub especially brilliant for families:
They have an elevator.
A real one.
It takes you from the waterfall level all the way back up to the car park, meaning you don’t have to climb those steps again with tired kids, slippery shoes, and fading enthusiasm.
That alone earns Omma Dayclub a gold star and turns Tegenungan falls from manageable into smartly planned.
What We Actually Did at Omma
And Loved
We did exactly what our bodies asked for.
We rested.
We ordered food.
We drank cold things like people who had just been personally victimised by the sun.
Drinks We Ordered
- Lychee bold iced tea
- Lemongrass iced tea
- Omma Creamy Mango — thick, sun-sweet mango blended with creamy coconut, just a hint of banana warmth, finished with toasted coconut flakes that caught on your lips between sips. Cold, lush, and unapologetically tropical — the kind of drink that makes the heat feel intentional.
It disappeared so quickly the girls immediately ordered another — and this time, I joined them. Some drinks don’t get shared. And this one tasted exactly like Bali in a glass.
Food We Shared
- Omma Signature Pizza — juicy prawns and a sambal kick that reminded us we were very much in Bali, not just eating pizza in the tropics. Familiar, but with enough heat and depth to keep it interesting.
- Meat Lover Pizza — unapologetically indulgent — smoky, salty, and reassuringly predictable in the best way. The kind of pizza that disappears slice by slice without conversation slowing it down.
- Crispy Chicken Burger — pure comfort: golden crunch on the outside, juicy inside, stacked generously and served with fries that didn’t survive long enough to cool down.
- Chicken Satay
- Chicken Damien Noodles — light, fragrant broth, soft noodles, and just enough texture from gyoza and greens to feel nourishing without being heavy. The kind of dish that settles you.
- Spaghetti with Bacon & Mushroom — creamy, familiar, and immediately claimed by the kids. No convincing required. No leftovers returned.
It was comforting, generous food — the kind that meets you exactly where you are and doesn’t ask for more effort than you can give.
A Quick Escape to the Edge
While Everyone Else Rested
While everyone else relaxed in the bamboo seating area, AG and I slipped away briefly — just the two of us — to the edge of the waterfall.
There are a few photo platforms, including a stone platform with an “I ❤️” sign, positioned perfectly with the waterfall behind it. We did a quick, easy photo session — no lines, just a moment.
Nearby, there’s also a cheeky shop selling signs like:
- I Love Bali
- Happy Wife, Happy Life
- Wife for Sale – Cash or Card
- I’m Single and Very Happy
We laughed.
We took photos.
We returned refreshed.
Is Tegenungan Waterfall Worth It with Kids?
Yes — with realistic expectations.
Why it works:
- Shorter access compared to many waterfalls
- Clear paths and photo stops
- Facilities nearby
- Omma Dayclub for rest, swim, food, shade, and elevator access
What to plan for:
- Heat
- Crowds
- Slippery steps (wear sturdy sandals or water shoes)
- Close supervision — there are no lifeguards
This isn’t a quiet jungle escape.
It’s a popular, lively stop — but one that works beautifully for families when paced well.
Sidoodle Review
Overall: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Best For: Families, first-time Bali visitors, waterfall days that need balance
Vibe: Lively adventure followed by effortless recovery
Kid-Factor: Manageable access + daybeds + elevator = win
Worth It? Yes — when paired together
Sid Says:
Do the waterfall for the wow.
Do Omma for the reset.
This pairing turns effort into ease — and that’s how Bali works best with kids.
The Real Takeaway
Tegenungan delivered the wow moment.
Omma Dayclub delivered the recovery.
Together, they turned what could’ve been an exhausting stop into a balanced one — adventure followed by rest, movement followed by stillness.
And when travelling with kids, that balance isn’t optional.
It’s everything.
Adventure asked for energy.
Recovery answered back.
